From taking a walk break, to phoning a friend, or checking the batteries on your smoke detector, there is something for everyone. Simply check off the challenges as you complete them on the tracking form you will be provided. If you complete a daily challenge on 30 of the 35 days, you will be placed in a drawing for a chance to win prizes.
As an added bonus, the tracking form will include a place to record your weekly weight. This is optional, but if you maintain (or lose) weight over the holidays, it will count as completing three (3) daily challenges.
To register for DU Well Healthy Holidays and receive your tracking form, send an email to linda.feiden@drake.edu.

This fall, ITS launched eduroam (education roaming), a new wireless network at Drake. Faculty, staff, and students can access the eduroam wireless network at any eduroam-participating institution worldwide. By connecting to eduroam on campus, using your Drake email and password, you will be able to use the eduroam network whenever you travel to an eduroam-participating institution. In Iowa, that includes University of Iowa, Iowa State, and University of Northern Iowa.
The eduroam network is replacing DUFacStaff on Dec. 31. You must log into eduroam using your Drake email address, rather than your Drake ID number. This ensures that your credentials are passed securely anywhere you connect to eduroam.
The eduroam network is available in over 1,000 locations in 100 countries, so if you lead a J-Term travel course, or attend a conference, you may be able to take your wireless network with you.
Learn more about eduroam on our FAQ page and make the switch today.
Despite the usual fall weather we’ve been experiencing, the University Avenue sewer and streetscape project has made significant progress over the last couple of months. Contractors have been hard at work installing storm sewer pipes, burying all utilities, relocating fire hydrants, and installing new streetlights. The north bike lane and sidewalks have started to take shape adjacent to the campus and temporary street paving is happening soon. The intent is to have all walk connections, street paving, and rough grading completed to provide two travel lanes and a center turn lane with a continuous sidewalk prior to shutting down this project for the winter. In the spring (before Drake Relays), the bus shelter, final street paving, and landscaping will be complete to finalize this new stretch of streetscape.
One of the unique aspects of this streetscape has been completed by 30th Street. This is the first area in the city to receive the newly designed bus stop with incorporated bike lanes that travel behind the bus stop in order for the bus to pick-up or drop-off passengers without any conflicts to bicyclists. There will be two new bus stops on the north side and eventually three on the south side.
As construction continues, please be aware of your surroundings in relation to traffic with limited sight lines and use caution when crossing University Avenue. Students, faculty, and staff are asked to use the pedestrian crossing light at Olmsted Lot for crossing.
