Called to be True Blue

Capping off a semester where the All Staff Council honored more than six staff members or units, Sandy Hatfield Clubb, director of athletics, received the honor. As her nominator said:

“While the True Blue Award should be named after Paul Morrison, Sandy would be a close second with her amazing energy, personality, excellence, and vision with her leadership in our athletic department to make Drake University a better place for our students. It goes without saying, Sandy truly lives the Bulldog Way!

Do you know of a staff member or department that has gone above and beyond to exemplify True Blue spirit? Nominate them today!

JoBeth Malone-Schoneberg honored with Called to Be True Blue Award

JoBeth Malone-Schoneberg, a chemistry laboratory assistant, was surprised by All Staff Council representatives last week during a meeting in Fitch Hall. The group presented JoBeth with the Called to be True Blue Award for her help in preparing for the Harvey Ingham remodel.

In nominating her, JoBeth’s colleague mentioned that while many of the chemistry faculty and staff helped prepare for the HI remodel, “JoBeth, in particular, has been amazing and has definitely stepped into the role of coordinator. Without her, I don’t think all of this would have been accomplished. Additionally, she did all of this very graciously with no whining or complaining—also very appreciated!”

JoBeth, who claims to have been iffy on the “no whining” front, accepted her certificate and gift card and posed for photos with peers who also helped facilitate the remodel. She and all others who receive Called to be True Blue Award this fiscal year are in the running to win top honors for staff accomplishment—the Sapphire Award—at a recognition event in May.

Office of Alumni honored with Called to be True Blue

The Office of Alumni Relations recently received the Called to Be True Blue Award for their work planning and hosting a variety of events during the Drake Relays. As the nominator said: “This year was particularly challenging for the Office, as they had several new staff members who were unfamiliar with all the work put in for the Relays, and they were short-staffed, missing one of their key team members. Year after year, they produce great events for alumni, ensuring our graduates maintain a positive connection to the University, which leads to monetary support as well as connections for our students.”
