Called to be True Blue

Capping off a semester where the All Staff Council honored more than six staff members or units, Sandy Hatfield Clubb, director of athletics, received the honor. As her nominator said:

“While the True Blue Award should be named after Paul Morrison, Sandy would be a close second with her amazing energy, personality, excellence, and vision with her leadership in our athletic department to make Drake University a better place for our students. It goes without saying, Sandy truly lives the Bulldog Way!

Do you know of a staff member or department that has gone above and beyond to exemplify True Blue spirit? Nominate them today!

Called to be True Blue

Sara Schoneberg, student records service specialist, was recognized Dec. 9 with the Called to be True Blue Award from All Staff Council. She was honored for being a valuable team player who is always willing to go above and beyond.

As her nominator stated:

“Over the past few weeks, Sara has been instrumental in assisting with the posting of transfer credit for current Drake students for the Spring 2016 semester. Without her assistance, not nearly as many students would have been able to register in an earlier timeslot. This exhibits a willingness to learn a new skill set and goes above and beyond her other daily job responsibilities. Her hard work has not only made the Office of Student Records run efficiently, it is also directly helping Drake students toward their goal of earning their undergraduate degree.”

J-Term 2017 on-campus schedule
It will soon be time to construct the J-Term 2017 on-campus schedule. Each school/college assembles the schedule of their classes, and they will have deadlines sometime very early in the spring semester. If you have questions about J-Term classes (such as how to develop an intensive three-week learning experience, which faculty or staff have successfully organized on-campus J-Term classes and are willing to discuss with others, or what compensation rules are), feel free to contact Associate Provost Art Sanders (arthur.sanders@drake.edu).

Interested in teaching an FYS next fall?
It is time to start considering teaching a First Year Seminar in Fall 2016. If you are interested, visit the FYS Resource page, where you will find sample syllabi and other information about the program. And at the bottom of the page you will find the FYS Course Proposal form. (Please note: If you are a full-time faculty member and you are planning on building FYS into your schedule, you still need to fill out this form.) If you have questions, or want additional information about the FYS program, contact arthur.sanders@drake.edu .
