Pisarski selected to work with Super Bowl Host Committee

Dorothy is wearing some of the gear provided by Target Corp. The reflective printing on the front and back is provided by 3M Corp, and the hat is provided by Love Your Melon.

Dorothy Pisarski, associate professor of advertising, was selected to work with the Minnesota Super Bowl Host Committee and serve as a Skyway Host as part of Crew 52 during the upcoming Super Bowl. Dorothy will provide information and suggestions to Minneapolis visitors who need assistance navigating the Skyway system or requiring general tourism information. Super Bowl festival events run for ten days preceding the Super Bowl, starting Friday, Jan. 26.

Dorothy was inspired to apply for the role with the hosting committee after accompanying Drake Advertising students to the Student Advertising Summit at the University of Minnesota a year ago. By participating in the Super Bowl, Dorothy will be able to share with her students real-life examples of how event management and marketing operate at a Super Bowl-level scope and scale.

Help spread awareness of Employee & Family Resources

Employee and Family Resources (EFR) offers programs that cover a range of topics including financial and legal consulting, elder care resources, counseling, wellness topics and presentations, and crisis response.

Many employees overlook this resource when they need assistance. To help increase awareness, EFR has created new quarterly posters for 2018, titled: Navigate Life’s Challenges; Anger Issues; and Wash, Rinse, Repeat. Please feel free to print and display one or more of these posters in your area (breakroom, restroom, copy room, near time clocks, and communication boards).

Stay vigilant against social engineering attacks

Drake continues to be targeted by individuals attempting to coerce faculty and staff to give away confidential information like usernames and passwords, personally identifiable information (PII), or computer access. Other attacks try to gain financial benefit by using fake invoices and wire transfers.

Because of this constant threat, ITS provides training on how to detect and respond to these types of attacks using simulated emails. These emails are a risk-free way to teach faculty and staff how to detect and report phishing. If you receive a simulated phishing email and open the link or attachment, you’ll be directed to an informational page letting you know the signs you may have missed.

Because phishing represents such a significant risk to campus, ITS is beginning to assign additional training to faculty and staff members who repeatedly click links or open attachments in phishing emails, simulated or not.

If you receive an email you suspect is phishing, don’t click any links, download any attachments, or reply. Instead, forward the email as an attachment to informationsecurity@drake.edu.

For more information on how to report phishing emails, see the IT Service Portal guide, Reporting a Phishing Message.
