Drake Innovation hosting T-shirt screen printing with the Side Garage

The Innovation Studio is happy to bring the Side Garage back to campus on Friday, April 26. Stop by Meredith Hall between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. to print your own limited-time-only, specially-themed shirt. There is a limited number of T-shirts available, so it is first come, first served. The event is free, but students are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food or personal hygiene item for the campus Little Pantries project. For questions, email innovation@drake.edu.

Athletics event staff help needed

Drake Athletic Operations is hiring for their Event Staff team to help at the Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee. Help is needed to monitor parking lots, setup/tear-down, and more. Shifts are broken into four hour time slots but can be flexible to your schedule. These are paid positions with lunch, snacks, and drinks provided.

The J-Term priority deadline is quickly approaching. Apply by April 15 to meet the priority deadline for your preferred Drake University travel seminar course. J-Term 2020 travel seminars include destinations to the Bahamas, England, Finland, Hawaii, India, Israel and Jordan, Italy, Japan, Mexico, New Zealand, Panama, Rwanda, Thailand, and Washington D.C. Scholarships are available.

Drake Athletics Ticket Office is hiring

The Drake Athletics Ticket Office is hiring seasonal, part-time ticket sales associates for the Drake Relays presented by Hy-Vee. This position requires approximately 2–4 office hours during the weeks leading up to the Drake Relays and 12–15 hours during the weekend of the Drake Relays.

First annual Dog(town) Days

Drake’s Community Action Board (CAB) is hosting a challenge during the month of April to visit Dogtown businesses. To track how many restaurants, coffee shops, juice shops you’ve visited, pick up a punchcard in the Breezeway April 1–3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from the SLC Office. 

At the end of the month, all students are invited to celebrate the neighborhood with raffles and free Papa Keno’s, Lifestyle Juice, Fernando’s, and more. Like the CAB Facebook page for more info and updates.

National Volunteer Week April 7–13

Celebrate National Volunteer Week April 7–13. National Volunteer Week is an opportunity to celebrate the impact of volunteer service and the power of volunteers to come together to tackle tough challenges and build stronger, more resilient communities. During the week, a focus is put on the people and causes that inspire us to serve, recognizing and thanking volunteers who lend their time, talent, and voice to make a difference in their communities.

Stop by the Olmsted Breezeway this week to share why you volunteer and earn the chance to win a free #DrakeServes T-shirt and other swag. Post photos of you and your friends engaging with the community using #DrakeServes.

A number of volunteer opportunities will be taking place throughout the week, including a culminating “Spring Into Seeds” event at the Sprout Garden on April 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
