The United Way campaign ends on Friday

There are only four days left to give as part of Drake’s United Way campaign. The campaign is going well, and we’re excited about the progress. Thank you to those who have participated.  Remember, our goal is to achieve approximately a 20 percent participation rate; donating is entirely optional.

If you are interested in contributing, donating takes only a few minutes. An email from United Way with a donation link was distributed to campus on Nov. 6. Contributions may also be designated to specific organizations, such as the Ray Center, the Drake Adult Literacy Center, or the Boys and Girls Clubs.

If our campaign goal is met, all employees will receive the full day off on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving (instead of a half-day). Other incentives include basketball tickets, Drake merchandise (there’s still some left to give away!), and more. See the incentives page or visit the campaign page to learn more.

For questions on the campaign, contact your campaign ambassador or Nate Reagen at nate.reagen@drake.edu or ext. 2949.

Coffee with Office of Admission

With the recruitment cycle well underway, the Office of Admission is providing opportunities for faculty and staff to ask questions of the admission team regarding admission strategy, as well as listen to any concerns or ideas as they relate to recruitment.

As Drake continues to march toward its enrollment goals, transparency and communication are key. Keith Summerville and Anne Kremer will be in the Olmsted Coffee Shop one day a month should any faculty or staff want to stop by and ask questions or provide insights and ideas. The first three dates are:

  • Wednesday, Nov. 15, 12–1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 13, 12–1 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 17, 12–1 p.m.

This is an informal discussion event and an opportunity for productive conversation.

Recruitment best practices training

The Office of Admissions will host its third “Best Practices for Recruitment Training” for faculty and staff on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 4 to 5 p.m. in Sussman Theater.

This training is appropriate for any faculty and staff member who engages with prospective and admitted students. When it comes to meeting with prospective and admitted students, it’s important to ensure that cohesive messaging and best practices are shared and followed across all units, departments, and offices on campus.

Following the training presentation, tickets to Hubbell Dining will be offered. The one-hour session will cover the following topics”

  • Enrollment funnel
  • Audience awareness
  • Engagement for faculty recruitment team members, including individual appointments and group visit days
  • Best Practices–what faculty should know about their programs
  • How to best leverage current students for recruitment
  • Tuition Guarantee
  • Other resources

Drake is stronger as an institution when all of us use consistent messaging and best practices that ensure families leave our campus knowing what we have to offer, and what sets us apart.

For questions, please contact Anne Kremer at anne.kremer@drake.edu.
