Bulldog Pack Rewards Program

Bulldog Pack Rewards Program is a points-based scorecard dedicated to helping you enhance your quality of life in five areas: physical, financial, community, social, and occupational. Earn points by participating in various activities and making healthy choices. Reach 100 points between Sept. 15 and June 1, 2018, and be placed in a drawing for a chance to win your choice of prizes from a wellness catalog.

The Bulldog Pack Rewards Program scorecard is available to all full-time and part-time faculty and staff, regardless of enrollment in the Drake Medical Plan. Click here for instructions on how to access the scorecard and start earning points now.

Please note that the annual biometric/wellness screenings and online wellness assessment are separate from this scorecard. These two items are only for current employees on Drake’s medical plan and must be completed annually to receive the wellness premium incentive.

Join the Healthiest State Walk

Faculty, staff, and students are invited to join this year’s Healthiest State Walk on Wednesday, Oct. 4.  This one mile walk is part of the Healthiest State Initiative and its goal of making Iowa the healthiest state in the nation.

The walk will begin at the north entrance of Cowles Library at 12:15 p.m.  All participants will be given a map of the route and a raffle ticket for a chance to win a prize. If it rains, the walk will take place at indoor track at the Knapp Center.

It takes approximately 15 minutes to walk a mile, so consider taking a few minutes away from work or studies to participate in this fun and healthy event.

For more information, email Linda Feiden at linda.feiden@drake.edu.

On-campus flu shots for faculty and staff

It’s not too late to receive your flu shot. The flu shot clinic will be open Oct. 2. Those who wish to participate must sign up for an appointment.

Human Resources purchased 200 doses of the flu vaccine to be provided at no cost to faculty and staff. The College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences will administer the flu shot clinic in Harvey Ingham Hall, Room 107 (Johansen Lab). Flu shots will be given in private rooms.

Those who sign up will receive an email the day before their scheduled appointment outlining the following details:

  • Wear a shirt/blouse that will allow access to your upper arm (this is where the vaccine will be administered).
  • Print and fill out the immunization screening form attached to the email. Bring the form with you to your flu shot appointment.
  • Bring your Drake ID Card to the appointment.

For questions, contact CPHS.wellness@drake.edu.

How are alumni staying connected?

Alumni tell us they want to stay connected to Drake by contributing to today’s student experience. Have you scheduled an alumnus to speak in your classroom, participate in a career fair, serve on a panel, be a mentor to a student? Now there’s an easy way to let Alumni Relations know so we can measure engagement, track interests, and communicate opportunities. Find the online form on the University Advancement Web page, or there is a link on BlueView under Faculty & Staff Resources.

Join a discussion on inclusive learning environments

For the past two years, a group of faculty and staff have been meeting monthly to discuss issues related to creating inclusive learning environments. The group is continuing these meetings and opening them up to anyone on campus who wishes to talk about the challenges, successes, and failures we have faced as we try to navigate this difficult issue. This semester, the group will be meeting the second Monday of every month at 3:30 p.m. The next meeting will be at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 9, in the Drake Room. For questions, contact Art Sanders at arthur.sanders@drake.edu.

Scholarship of Teaching and Learning lunch to occur Friday

The first of the monthly Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) lunches is this Friday at 12 p.m. in Olmsted Center, TMR 133. Theses lunch discussions are an opportunity for those engaged in SoTL projects at any level—from just thinking about starting one to almost complete or those simply curious about SoTL—to share ideas, seek advice, or ask questions of colleagues engaged in the process. This year, members of ITS will attend to provide advice/information about SoTL projects that involve technology usage. While it is too late to order a lunch, faculty are still welcome to attend.

Town hall meetings to discuss Revised Drake Curriculum

Two town hall meetings to discuss the Revised Drake Curriculum (RDC) proposal will take place today (Sept. 26) and Wednesday, Oct. 4. Both meetings will be held in Sussman Theater at 3:30 pm. Faculty who plan to attend should fill out a brief survey on the topic as that will be the mechanism for faculty to vote on the proposal. The proposal can be found on the faculty senate webpage under Meeting Information, labeled RDC for April Senate.
