“Are International Financial Institutions Still Relevant?”

Drake will host a panel discussion Tuesday, Nov. 1, on the topic “Are International Financial Institutions Still Relevant?”
The discussion, sponsored by the Principal Financial Group and the Principal Financial Group Center for Global Citizenship at Drake, is scheduled for 7–8:30 p.m. in Sussman Theater, located in the lower level of the Olmsted Center. The event is free and open to the public; no tickets are required.

Panelists will include:

  • Jim McCaughan, chief executive officer of Principal Global Investors (PGI)
  • Madelyn Antoncic, global head of official sector partnerships at PGI
  • Tom Root, associate professor of finance in the College of Business and Public Administration

They will discuss challenges facing the International Monetary Fund and World Bank, including private capital flows across borders and new international financial institutions led by non-Western powers, such as the New Development Bank and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.
