The Science Colloquium Series,” Life after Drake,” will feature a lecture by alumnus Jon Vermedahl, AS’02, this Thursday, Oct. 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. in Harvey Ingham Hall, Room 135. Using the now retired Space Shuttle and the flight of STS-93 as a case study, his presentation will discuss the role a flight controller has in preparing for a space flight and in making a successful space flight from liftoff through landing. Furthermore, the presentation will provide an overview of the various training methods used to prepare astronauts and flight controllers for upcoming space flights.
