From the office of Associate Provost Art Sanders

A reminder, the first Friday FYS lunch/discussion is this Friday, Sept. 8, at noon in Olmsted Center, TMR 133. These meetings are open to those with an interest in possibly teaching FYS in the future. It is too late to order a lunch, but you are welcome to bring your own and join us.

Our first meeting to begin planning the spring semester Engaged Citizen Experience with the theme Nourishing (Feeding) the World, is this Friday, Sept. 8, at 9 a.m. in Old Main, Room 208. Among the events we will be planning are our annual conference and a film series. For additional information contact me at arthur.sanders@drake.edu.

For the past two years, a group of faculty and staff have been meeting monthly to discuss issues related to creating inclusive learning environments. We will be continuing those meetings and opening them to anyone on campus who wishes to talk about the challenges, successes, and failures we have faced as we try to navigate this difficult issue. This semester the group will be meeting the second Monday of the month at 3:30 p.m. Thus, our first meeting will be at 3:30 on Monday, Sept. 11 in the Drake Room. If you have any questions, contact me at arthur.sanders@drake.edu.
