Join us for an informal panel discussion co-sponsored by Jody Swilky, coordinator of writing instruction, and Joan McAlister, coordinator of public speaking instruction.
Surveys, focus groups, and informal interactions suggest that a significant number of students and junior faculty at Drake have a high degree of anxiety about presenting scholarship for a “live” audience (at capstones, conferences, and in other settings). Three Drake scholars with considerable experience presenting their scholarship to a range of audiences will discuss what influences them when they present written work publicly. The event is scheduled for Friday, Dec. 2, from 12 to 1 p.m. in the Speaking Center on the lower level of Cowles Library.
